About This Spot

Stepping into Captain Arthur's in Youngstown feels like slipping back into a cherished chapter of local dining history, where time slows down just enough to savor familiar flavors and unhurried moments. The atmosphere hums with an easy, old-school charm—a nod to classic fish and chips joints that have long been part of the community’s fabric, yet kept fresh by friendly faces who clearly care about the craft and the company they keep.

The pace here is comfortably relaxed but purposeful, the kitchen’s rhythm marked by orders made to order and served without rush. It’s the kind of place where the scent of fried fish and hushpuppies mingles with genuine smiles, and where the coleslaw isn’t just a side but part of the experience, complementing rich, crispy bites with brightness and crunch. Whether it's a solo quick bite or a family gathering, Captain Arthur’s offers a warm, unpretentious setting that invites guests to pause, enjoy, and connect.

What makes the experience distinct is not only the food’s freshness but the sense that this spot sustains a tradition—a respectful nod to the iconic fish and chips stops of the past, while carving out its own friendly neighborhood spot. The folks behind the counter have cultivated a space where regulars feel recognized and newcomers easily welcome, striking a balance between comfort and a quiet pride in doing things well.

In a world where dining can feel hurried and impersonal, Captain Arthur’s offers a reminder that some of the best meals grow from a blend of consistency, thoughtful service, and simple, honest ingredients. It’s a place that invites you to settle in, enjoy that perfectly fried fish sandwich or a satisfying platter, and share in a slice of community life that continues to resonate through every fresh-made order.

Such a cool place! A great feeling of an old school Fish n Chips style restaurant like the ones we grew up with! Kinda like the old Arthur Treachers restaurant but better! My fish and chicken combo was perfect! Love the Cole slaw too! I hope more people support businesses like this one.

I haven't been to this Arthur Treacher's restaurant since I was a kid, but the food is just as good as I remember. I complimented the crew for keeping up the quality. You won't find food sitting under the lamps getting dried out here. They make every order fresh! I've had my share of disappointments at other places, claiming to serve Arthur Treacher's original Fish and Chips that didn't even come close. Please, if you're in town, stop by and tell them I said it's well worth it!

Absolutely awesome. Even the name change but the deliciousness never changed. Staff was super nice and friendly.

Great fish place that is reminiscent of the old Arther Treacher's restaurants. We ordered fish for our Chiristmas Eve dinner here every year. Fish is made fresh when we order it. The ladies running the restaurant are very friendly. Menu is reasonably priced.

I only get to come out to Austintown about once a year for a competition. I am a school bus driver and the place I love to eat is here at Captain Arthur’s great people. Great service great food. This is a very clean establishment. Bathrooms are very clean. That’s how you know that they take good care of everything in the back cleanliness wise.

Clean facility. Helpful Staff. And, the portions were exactly what I had expected from the past, (Arthur Treacher's). Highly recommend. Will be back often.
